ELO choice is music to ears of fans

Oct 13 2005

BLUES supporters will be dancing to a different tune at Sunday's derby against Villa.

In a poll of fans to find their favourite 'run out' song, ELO's Mr Blue Sky came out on top.

As the players emerge from the tunnel this weekend - and before all St Andrew's games - the classic pop tune will now accompany them.

In an effort to generate a better atmosphere at the stadium, fans were asked whether the pre- match music should be changed.

Co-owner David Sullivan was a prime mover in the quest to discover the faithful's tastes.

Fans, voting on the club's internet website, decided to pick Mr Blue Sky (27 per cent) ahead of Singing The Blues (20 per cent) and the club anthem Keep Right On (18 per cent).

Previously, The Tamperer's Feel It was played over the PA as Blues emerged from the tunnel at the Railway End. Some fans still voted for the song to remain (16 per cent) but now it has been consigned to history.
