Jeff used it as a filler when recording Don`t bring me down in Munich, Germany. Reinhard Mack, ELO`s sound engineer in  the studio there told Jeff that it sound like Gruss, the German word for greetings, so Jeff left it on the song. (Interview with Jeff on VH 1 from 2001)

Additionally, many people keep thinking Jeff sings "Bruce", so he started singing it that way. (also from VH1 Storytellers)

Its a form of Greeting in German. Although many people sand Bruce at the concerts and whatnot, so it kind of stuck...

Correct me if I'm wrong!!

Many people 'sand' Bruce at concerts? Doesn't Bruce get fed up about that? Jeff Lynne is a BIG hero of mine.I've got his posters all over my bedroom and I'm growing my hair to be just like how his was in 1979.

I meant Sang 'Bruce'!!

Although I am pretty sure he would after all that sand in his underwear.
Yeah...I love Jeff! He rocks, although I don't know how I'd look with his hair on me...

Yet again, ELOgirl to lazy to log in.......
