Discovery. I was in high school and they were already my favorite band.

My all-time favorite has to be A NEW WORLD RECORD.
OUT OF THE BLUE is a really close second.

Well, since I grew up on the Traveling Wilburys, I'm more into Jeff Lynne as a producer and solo artist than his 70s and early 80s phase with ELO. I don't even have copies of those old ELO albums. A compilation does the trick for me.
I'm undecided if my fave is the Wilburys' Vol.1, Vol.3 or Zoom.
Production-wise, it's either Into the Great Wide Open, Rock On Del Shannon or Cloud Nine.

I think it's the most complete ELO album, as every song is great and the concept is solid. I think of it as the sequel to "Eldorado," complete with the instrumental leading into the best track and a solid theme throughout. After that, I'd rank the albums thusly:
2.) "Out of the Blue" 3.) "Eldorado" 4.) "Secret Messages" 5.) "A New World Record" 6.) "Discovery" 7.) "Balance of Power" 8.) "On the Third Day" 9.) "Face the Music"
That's all I've heard. I still need to get "Zoom" and "Armchair Theater," as well as the first disc and the live stuff.

The best album is yet to come! If Jeff pulls his finger out and buries the hatchet with Bev and who knows even Roy Wood and what about having that Nutty cello player Mike Edwards back complete with grapefriut balaclava and exploding Cello Hold On Tight to your Dreams!

I have been a fan since the early 70's. I think that jeff Lynne is one of the best in the industry. My favourite albums are:-
1=out of the blue best track, Sweet is the night 1=Discovery best track, Midnight blue 1=Time best track, yours truly 2=a new world record best track, shangri la 2=eldorado best track, poor boy 2=Face the music best track, one summer dream 3 secret messages best track, danger ahead 4 on the third day best track, king of the universe 5 armchair theatre best track, what would it take 6 balance of power best track, so serious 7 zoom best track, ordinary dream
Having said that, all of them are brilliant and their places change depending what mood i am in.

To hard to choose really. However, for various sentimental reasons Discovery & Time are the albums I listen to the most.
