Norman's back in the old routineJan 11 2007

 By Andy Coleman, Birmingham Mail

"COMEBACK? What comeback? I've never been away!"

That was Sir Norman Wisdom's reaction to suggestions that the comedy legend's latest project sees him turning his back on the retirement he announced in 2005.

"I'll do anything - you've got to have some fun," quipped the 91-year-old on the set of Expresso, a ten minute film being shot in the restaurant at Waseley Hills Country Park, near Rubery.

In the film, which depicts one day in a cafe, Sir Norman plays a vicar who is attacked by a fly.

It's a non-speaking role which makes the most of Sir Norman's famous physical slapstick.

"It's been great fun, I've really enjoyed it," he said after a day of filming which included cameo appearances by comic Don Maclean and musician Bev Bevan.
