1  ELOFANS.COM / Jeff Lynne and ELO / RE: Re: Lynne writing Out of the Blue on: Sep 26, 2006, 01:42
Can anybody recommend a good book on ELO and Jeff's songwriting...would be just my kind of read !
2  ELOFANS.COM / Jeff Lynne and ELO / A New World Record Remaster on: Sep 26, 2006, 01:28
Have just purchased this disc having previously owned the American Import of the album on Jet Records. Massive improvement in quality on the new remastered version...both Jeff's vocals and the strings leap out of the mix. Stunning on a good pair of headphones !
3  ELOFANS.COM / Jeff Lynne and ELO / Face The Music is Highly Underrated: Discuss... on: Sep 26, 2006, 01:23
I have just bought Face The Music (The remaster) and have been blown away by it...Waterfall is stunning as is One Summer Dream...

But Waterfall, wow what a song. Really really stunning...

Having heard Face The Music now I would say it is the equal of A New World Record...

What do you wonderful people out there think ?
4  ELOFANS.COM / Jeff Lynne and ELO / Release date for Out of the Blue Remaster ? on: Sep 26, 2006, 01:19
Darn It...Whilst I own the current version and it is brilliantly produced I would love a new remastered version...With nice new sleeve notes from Uncle Jeff ! Mind you, OOTB being Jeff's masterpiece it's worth taking time over !

6  ELOFANS.COM / Jeff Lynne and ELO / Favourite album covers? on: Aug 07, 2006, 01:49
I like Discovery...but what is the ELO "discus" !!?!?!?

...and why do the protagonist's pursuers desire it so badly ?

This is the essence of the cover's greatness imho...
7  ELOFANS.COM / Jeff Lynne and ELO / ELO top 'guilty pleasures' list on: Aug 07, 2006, 01:44
Never mind a guilty pleasure, Livin' Thing is a timeless classic

I would have voted for Mr Blue Sky though !
8  ELOFANS.COM / Jeff Lynne and ELO / ELO thoughts from a relatively new poster on: Aug 07, 2006, 01:42
To my mind Jeff Lynne is an amazingly melodic songwriter...with obvious nods to the Beatles, but taking an element of the fab fours music but making a sound uniquely his own...I would put him on a par with Brian Wilson, the difference being that Jeff had the emotional stability that Brian lacked...
9  ELOFANS.COM / Jeff Lynne and ELO / Just fell under the ELO spell... on: Aug 07, 2006, 01:36
Greetings fellow ELO nuts !

Have just become an ELO obsessive...prompted by seeing their Wembley gig on BBC4 I got into Out Of The Blue in a big obsessive way !

Subsequently went out and bought Eldorado, Discovery and A New World Record...Blown away by all of them...How can an album have so many good songs...a songwriter at the top of his game ?

Looking forward to the re-release of Face The Music and Out of the Blue...Such an underrated band in this day and age !!
