By the way On The Third Day is my favorite ELO album because it was raw and really showed what the magnificent seven could do with that line up in the studio.

Beach

According to my liner notes, it was the "magnificent six" on On The Third Day...unless someone was omitted.

Jeff, Bev, Richard, Mike de Albuquerque, Mike Edwards, and Mik.

I believe the commonly accepted "magnificent seven" would be Jeff, Bev, Richard, Kelly, Mik, Hugh, and Melvyn for playing and Lou for conducting.

eloism has some isuues! Wow!! Childcare??  Are YOU a psychiatrist?

It is wise to know the answer to a question BEFORE asking it LOL  He probably is or something related to it.

To whom it may concern:

Look at the "Concert for George" dvd - you'll see marvelous Marc in action.

Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Beachboy from Melbourne Australia.

Howdy beachboy! I am ELO_chick from Tel Aviv in the old Middle East, not far from Australia LOL

Why Jeff put his version of Xanadu boggles me. Maybe its a way to show the world he isnt perfect....LOL Thats one of Jeffs less than impressive efforts. The advertising says it features the number 1 hit Xanadu... Thats not it!

This is my pet peeve. The music from Xanadu the movie was what turned me on to ELO in the first place so you can imagine my dismay at the hordes of fans who prefer Jeff's droopy version of the title song. Olivia made that song a #1 smash and any other version is blasphemy IMHO.

ZOOM: I honestly believe that if this album was pushed properly as a Jeff Lynne solo album it would have been well respected. [snip] Jeffs vocals are lovely but the harmonies are nothing like they were with Kelly. It really needed a band on this album. Even Richard Tandy only appered on one track.

I agree. Just listen to Mik's excellent violin work, or Kelly's wonderful bass & singing, or Louis's stunning musical genius on your ELO albums. It takes a blend of talent working in tandem to make a band, and no one will ever convince me that Jeff is a band by himself...talented as he is. Jeff may be the best songwriter and singer and guitar player in the world, but he could never have put on the mega shows that he did and sold millions of albums without the brilliance of the band.

The band who played on the Zoom DVD were great musically. There was nothing tasteless about what they did. But it was like watching Roy Orbison on stage. I'm sorry but two cellists reading sheet music makes them look more like session musos rather than ELO members. Marc Mann and Greg Bisonette (or is it Matt) were in the background... There was no interaction.. Rosie swayed like a cross between Stevie Nicks and Prozac.

Spot on! My sentiments exactly! I have read dozens of reviews and they all commented about Rosie swinging her arms like she was swimming LOL

BEV BEVAN This guy was the PR brain behind ELO ... But he's copping alot of flack from ELO and Move fans alike being portrayed as someone who lives off the fame of others. His latest project Bev Bevans Move has angered Move fans for him using the name. They have their reasons for this but at the end of the day Bev is a musician, he's keeping the music and the name of the band alive. And he got Roy Woods permission to use it.

Bravo to Bev!! I feel strongly that the music must not die. If the band leader wants out, the torch must be passed, in any band. Jeff should give Bev a medal for keeping ELO music in the public arena for so long after Jeff gave it up. No wonder ELO music is still being played 30 years on. Roy is to be commended for not taking a "dog in the manger" attitude regarding Bev Bevan's Move.

I think I read on jeff lynne.org or a rival site that Jeff was planning to start his own label and re-release "Armchair Theatre" with extra tracks. I pray that everyone involved with the Wilburys projects (labels included) get on board with these remasters because I feel sure that people are sick and tired of getting ripped off by e-bay and the like.

Jeff's website for the "new label" is elo.biz. This "news" was announced in 2003 and we are still waiting LOLOL  Go to the website and see for yourself Cheesy

I know Jeff Lynne is working with George Harrison's widow to re-release the orioginal Wilbury's albums(with added tracks), but with the luck they had getting the last Wilbury's album out(Orbison dies & then replaced by Del shannon(had the hit Runaway, who the Wilbury's did as a "B" side)) & he dies before the sessions started & then thinking of using Carl Perkins who, you guessed it, dies)but, I don't think they will try another Wilbury's CD. That adleast are my thoughts & what I have heard.

Tom Petty said in an interview that they will not be making another Wilburys album. Besides, getting the group together was George's idea so without him it would never be the same.
